We obtained a spectrum of the candidate supernova ASASSN-15hd (ATel #9227) with the SPRAT spectrograph mounted on the robotic 2m Liverpool Telescope at the Roque de los Muchachos observatory (La Palma). Observations started on 2016 Jul 17.13 (UT). The spectral range is 400-800 nm and
the dispersion is 9.2 Angstrom/pixel.
Classification with SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) indicates that this is a type Ia supernova. The best fit is with SN 2002jy at 15.8 days after maximum light, at a redshift z=0.029.
