The Asiago Transient Classification Program (Tomasella et al. 2014, AN, 335, 841) reports the spectroscopic classification
of ASASSN-16bn (also known as SN 2016adn), discovered by the All Sky Automated Survey for SuperNOvae (ASAS-SN) in
2MASX J03103162+0416184.
The observation was performed with the Asiago 1.82 m Copernico Telescope (+AFOSC; range 340-820 nm; resolution 1.4 nm),
remotely controlled from the Padova Observatory.
Name | Discovery UT | Obs. Date UT |z | Type | Phase |Notes
ASASSN-16bn |20160209.24 | 20160211.73 |0.023166 | Ia | around max | (1)
(1) This is a type Ia SN around the maximum light, in agreement with the classification reported in Atel #8674 and #8680. A good match is found with SN 2003du, 2 days after maximum.
From the position of the minimum of the broad Si II 635.5 nm absorption, we obtain an expansion velocity of about
10600 km/s.
Classification was done with GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A, 488,
383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024). The Asiago classification
spectrum is posted at the website http://sngroup.oapd.inaf.it.
