A spectrum was obtained of AT2016adn on UT Feb. 11.30 UT using the 1.82-m Plaskett telescope (National Research Council of Canada) covering the range 380-910 nm (resolution 0.51 nm). Cross-correlation with a template library using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) shows 2016adn to be a normal type-Ia supernova approximately 2 days post maximum light. We find a good fit to the template of SN 1994ae at T=+2 days. Our (SNid) solution yields a redshift of z=0.026. A nearby galaxy and possible host is 2MASX J03103162+0416184 with a published (NED) redshift of z=0.023. Using the presumed redshift of z=0.023 we measure an expansion velocity for the Si II (rest 635.5 nm) feature of 10,600 km/s.
