FLOYDS Classification of ASASSN-16ba/SN 2016zb as a Young Type II Supernova

We obtained a spectrum of ASASSN-16ba/SN 2016zb (ATel #8614) on 2016 February 1.5 UT with the robotic FLOYDS instrument mounted on the LCOGT 2-meter telescope in Siding Spring, Australia. Using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find good fits to the Type II SN 1999em about 1 week after explosion at redshifts consistent with that of the proposed host galaxy (z=0.014; HIPASS Catalog 2006 via NED). The spectrum is available on the Transient Name Server.
