We conducted a spectroscopic observation of transient PS15bpa at
2015-08-06T22:11:16 UT.
This transient was identified by the Pan-STARRS Survey for Transients
(PSST) in ATel #7876 with a discovery date 2015-08-01.
A spectrum was obtain in the visible, 400-800nm, with resolution R~350,
using the SPRAT spectrograph on the Liverpool Telescope located at Roque
de los Muchachos.
Classification using SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024)
indicates it is a type II supernova.
The red-shift estimated by SNID is z=0.023 , a close match to the
proposed host galaxy UGC 11445, z=0.0238.
We find the closest match to be with SN1979C at +43 days post maximum
but caution that matches with other type II spectra indicated ages from
+7 to +47 days.
