Alicia Soderberg (Caltech) reports:
I observed the Type Ia supernova 2006X in NGC 4321 (IAUC 8667 , CBET
393) with the Very Large Array on 2006 February 9.34 UT (approximately
2 days after optical discovery). The 2.5 hour observation at 8.46 GHz
reveals no radio source coincident with the optical SN position. I
place a limit on the radio flux density of 45 microJy (3 sigma). At a
distance of 16 Mpc this limit corresponds to a luminosity of 1.4 x
10^25 erg/s/Hz.
I am grateful to the VLA scheduling officers and operators for making this
target of opportunity observation possible.
