Gaia15abn was identified by the Gaia Photometric Science Alert pipeline on 2015-02-08T22:57:48 UT.
It was confirmed in imaging (Palaversa et al. ATel #7110) as a new bright blue source approximately 9
arcsec from galaxy SDSS J142637.26+240304.4 (no redshift available).
We conducted spectroscopic observations of transient Gaia15abn at 2015-02-24T:04:43:41 UT and 2015-02-25T05:50:17 UT. Two spectra were obtained in the visible (400-800nm) with resolution R~350 using the SPRAT spectrograph on the Liverpool Telescope located at Roque de los Muchachos.
Classification using SNID indicates it is a type Ia supernova with closest matching spectrum SN2006ac.
Age is estimated at +18 days post maximum from the observation taken at 2015-02-25T05:50:17 UT. The redshift is estimated as z = 0.034.
