Optical Counterpart of J1701-462

We obtained H-band images of the SWIFT error field of J1701-462 (ATel #702) using the SMARTS 1.3m telescope and ANDICAM instrument on Jan 21.3707 UT. We find a new object not present in the 2MASS catalogue. The H-band magnitude of the new source was 16.5 +- 0.1 in the Jan 21 data, as determined by comparison with nearby stars in the field with known 2MASS photometry. We find the coordinates of this new source to be: RA = 17:00:58.45 Dec = -46:11:08.6 with an error of approximately 0.5". A finding chart is available at: http://www.astro.yale.edu/maitra/J1701-462/
