Following the reported NIR flare (ATel #6780) of the gamma-ray source TXS 2241+406 (BZB J2244+4057), z=1.17, we performed broadband optical observations with the 0.6m telescope of Belogradchik Observatory, Bulgaria. The object is indeed in a very bright state but shows some signs of weakening. The magnitudes (with typical photometric errors of about 0.05 mag) that we obtained are listed below and appear to be the brightest ever reported for this object in the optical. The USNO B1 catalogue gives R=19.7 for TXS 2241+406, which means flux increase by a factor of ~70. Further monitoring is encouraged.
