We obtained an optical spectrum (range 350-900 nm) of ASASSN-14ma on UT 2014 Dec.15.49 with the 2.4-m telescope (+YFOSC) at LiJiang Gaomeigu Station of Yunnan Observatories. The spectrum is similar to that of a type-IIP supernova around the maximum light. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the comparison tool Gelato (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A, 488, 383) shows that it matches with SN 1999em at +2 days from the maximum light. Given a redshift of 0.0137 from the narrow emission line of H-alpha for the host galaxy, an expansion velocity of about 10200 km/s can be deduced from the H-alpha absorption minimum.
