We obtained an optical spectrum (range 330-930 nm) of PSN J04173792+3617317 on UT 2014 Dec.13.73 with the 2.4-m telescope (+YFOSC) at LiJiang Gaomeigu Station of Yunnan Observatories. The spectrum is similar to that of a type Ia supernovae at around the maximum light. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the comparison tool Gelato (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A, 488, 383) shows that it matches with SN 1998bu at t = -2.5 days. Given a redshift of 0.0188 for the host galaxy UGC03000, an expansion velocity of about 10700 km/s can be deduced from the Si II 635.5 absorption minimum.
