The Asiago Transient Classification Program (Tomasella et al. 2014, AN, 335, 841) reports the spectroscopic classification
of PSN J02262331+2739348 in UCG 1899 and the spectral confirmation of ASASSN-14dc (= PSN J02183806+3336583; ATel #6284).
The observations were performed with the Asiago 1.82 m Copernico Telescope
(+AFOSC; range 340-820 nm; resolution 1.2 nm).
Name | Date (UT) | z | Type | Phase | Notes
PSN J02262331+2739348 | 20141102.94 | 0.0324 | Ia | pre-max | (1)
ASASSN-14dc | 20141102.97 | 0.04 | IIn | 4 month | (2)
(1) Heliocentric radial velocity of the host galaxy UGC 1899 from Saintonge et al. 2008, AJ 135, 588 via NED. Best match with several Type-Ia SNe around one week before B-band maximum light. The expansion velocity deduced from the Si-II 635.5 nm absorption is about 14800 km/s.
(2) A redshift z=0.043 was derived for the position of narrow [OIII] emissions. We confirm that the spectrum of this transient is very similar either to that of the stripped envelope core-collapse SN interacting with dense circumstellar medium (Type-IIn SN) SN 1997cy (Turatto at al. 2000, ApJ 534, L57), or to the SNIIn/SNIa-CSM SN 2005gj (Aldering et al. 2006, ApJ 650, 510; Prieto et al. 2007, arXiv:0706.4088; but see Benetti et al 2014, MNRAS 441, 289).
Classification was done with GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A, 488, 383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024).
