P. Challis, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA), on behalf of the CfA Supernova Group, reports a spectrum (range 350-760 nm) of ASASSN-14jb was obtained on Oct 20, 2014 UT by P. Berlind with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST). The spectrum has a very blue continuum with emission of H Alpha, H Beta, H Gamma, H Delta and He II 4686. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows a reasonable match to the spectrum of type II supernova SN2005cs.
