Discovery of an Apparent Nova in M81

We report the discovery of an apparent nova in M81 on a co-added 1800-s unfiltered CCD frame taken on 2014 Oct. 6.130 UT with the 0.65-m telescope at Ondrejov.

The new object designated PNV J09555775+6902126 is located at R.A. = 9h55m57s.75, Decl. = +69o02'12".6 (equinox 2000.0), which is 131.8" east and 102.5" south of the center of M81 (see link to discovery image below).

The following unfiltered magnitudes were obtained using the 0.65-m telescope at Ondrejov (R-band magnitudes used from comparison stars):

2014 Jul. 14.879 UT, [20.9; Oct. 6.130, 20.2 ± 0.25; 7.098, 19.9 ± 0.2.
