Following the posting of PNV J00434997+4114049 at CBAT Transient Objects Confirmation Page, we have checked MASTER database for the reported position of this possible Nova in M31. MASTER-II telescope (double 0.40-m f/2.5 reflector + 4Kx4K CCD) located near Kislovodsk has observed the field of Andromeda Galaxy with two sets of 3x180-sec unfiltered exposures each clear night recently. Typical limiting magnitudes calibrated against USNO-B1.0 (0.8*R2+0.2*B2) were 19.2-19.5 on single exposures and 19.8-20.0 on the combined images. We have the deepest archival reference image without OT on 2011-12-16.67293 UT with unfiltered magnitude limit 21.2m.

CBAT TOCP lists the discovery date as 2014 09 22.320 UT and the unfiltered magnitude 18.6. MASTER-Kislovodsk has first detected the object at the reported position (740" west, 124" south of the center of M31) on 2014-09-19.777 UT at unfiltered magnitude 18.5. Checking our database shows the marginal detection as early as 2014-09-15 at 19.5m. The following upper limits and magnitudes were measured by the automatic photometry routines:

Obs. Date, UT Mag. Comments
2014-09-13.927 >18.7 non-detection
2014-09-15.948 19.5 first detection, SNR=4.8
2014-09-19.777 18.5 SNR=8.6
2014-09-21.689 18.3 SNR=7.7
2014-09-22.700 18.4 SNR=7.9
