We obtained a spectrum of PSN J03481978+7007545 on 2014 September 14
(UT) with the FLOYDS instrument mounted on the Faulkes Telescope
North. The spectrum reveals it to be a Type Ia supernova at least one
week before maximum light and it appears significantly reddened, which
is unsurprising given that the supernova is deeply embedded in its
host galaxy. The redshift of the supernova is consistent with that of
the host galaxy, UGC 2855 (z=0.0040). Classification was performed via
supernova spectrum cross correlation using SNID (Blondin \& Tonry,
2007, ApJ, 666, 1024).
