The new AGILE transient AGL J1608-5253 (ATel #6427) was in the field of view of the IBIS/ISGRI and JEM-X instruments
onboard INTEGRAL from Aug 19-26, 2014 (UTC) during observations of the Norma/Perseus arms region.
We considered the best determined AGILE position of RA, Dec = 242.12, -52.88 degrees, with an associated uncertainty of 0.4 deg (ATel #6427) . AGL J1608-5253 was not detected within the IBIS/ISGRI (20-80 keV) mosaicked images (with an effective exposure time at the AGILE source location of about 6.1 ks). We obtain 3-sigma upper limits on the source's hard X-ray emission of 4 mCrab and 5 mCrab in the 20-40 keV and 40-80 keV energy bands, respectively. It is not detected either in the individual pointings.
The AGILE source was at the very rim in the JEM-X field of view, with an effective exposure time of about 630 s. We estimate a preliminary 3-sigma upper limit of about 10 mCrab on its 3-10 keV flux.
Further INTEGRAL observations in the direction of AGL J1608-5253 are planned for the next days.
