We report spectroscopic classification of PSN J03442399-4440081 with the Wide Field Spectrograph (WiFeS - Dopita et al., 2007, ApSS, 310, 255) on the ANU 2.3m telescope at Siding Spring Observatory, NSW Australia, using the B3000/R3000 gratings (3500-9800 A, 1 A resolution). PSN J03442399-4440081 was discovered by Monard on 2014 Jun 03 at mag 14.0 in NGC 1448. A 15 minute spectrum of the SN on 2014 Jun 04 shows this object to be a type Ib supernova a few days after maximum light. Classification with SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) yields a best match to SN 2008D at phase +6 days at a redshift of z=0.003, consistent with redshift of the apparent host galaxy NGC 1448 (z=0.003896 - Koribalski et al., 2004, AJ, 128, 16).
