Following the MASTER OT J161633.80+333044.1 detection by P. Balanutsa, et al. reported in ATEL#6063, We carried out observations in the NIR. The photometry for May 08,2014 (JD2456785.948750) yielded the following values: H = 15.683 +/- 0.09, J = 16.441 +/- 0.05 and Ks = 14.930 +/- 0.03. The object is not visible in the 2MASS point source catalog, this implies that the flux increased by at least 2 magnitudes at these wavelengths during this flare. Observations where carried out with CANICA, a NIR camera on the 2.1m telescope at the Observatorio Astrofisico Guillermo Haro, located in Cananea, Mexico. We encourage further multiwavelength observations.
