An optical spectrogram (range 340-800 nm; resolution 1.1 nm), obtained on May 30.91 UT with the TNG (+ DOLORES spectrograph) under the Asiago Transient Classification Program (Tomasella et al. 2014, as posted at website URLhttp://arxiv.org/abs/1403.7233), shows that ASASSN-14ba is a type Ia-pec supernova. Assuming a recession velocity of 9794 km/s for the host galaxy (SDSS via NED), a good match is found with the peculiar type-Ia supernova 1995ac (Garnavich et al. 1996, AAS 189, 4509G) 12 days after explosion. The Asiago classification spectra are posted at website URL http://sngroup.oapd.inaf.it. Classification was made via GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024).
