LBT R-band Variability Limit for the Progenitor of SN 2014J

As part of the "Survey About Nothing" (e.g., Gerke et al. 2011, ApJ, 743, 176) we have been monitoring M82 since 2008 using the LBC cameras on the Large Binocular Telescope. Using 21 epochs of R-band data obtained between 8 March 2008 and 4 January 2014, we place an upper limit on the progenitor's rms variability of nu*Lnu < 3000 Solar Luminosities at 3 sigma (for D=3.6 Mpc, Gerke et al. 2011). In particular, no new source is present on 4 January 2014 to a depth of 23.4 (3 sigma) R mag.
