An optical spectrum (range 3700-9200 Angs.; resolution 7 Angs.) of ASASSN-13co (ATel #5346) was obtained on UT Sep 01.1 with WFCCD mounted on the du Pont 2.5m telescope at LCO. The spectrum shows a blue continuum and Balmer lines with P-Cygni profiles characteristic of a young Type II SN. Cross-correlation with a library of SN spectra using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007) shows good matches with several SN IIP close to maximum light. After correcting for the recession velocity of the host galaxy (z=0.0226 measured from nebular H-alpha in emission), we measure an H-alpha P-Cygni absorption minimum velocity of -12200 km/s. There is a likely detection of a faster component in the H-alpha P-Cygni absorption profile with velocity -19400 km/s. A plot of the spectrum can be found here.
