We report VLA and CARMA observations of Nova Del 2013 (CBET #3628) from 2013 August 16. These observations span 4.6--96 GHz and yield non-detections:
UT Time | Freq | Flux Density
|
| (GHz) | (mJy)
|
Aug 16.15 | 4.6 | -0.001 +/- 0.010 |
Aug 16.15 | 7.4 | -0.004 +/- 0.007 |
Aug 16.19 | 28.2 | 0.016 +/- 0.028 |
Aug 16.19 | 36.5 | 0.030 +/- 0.028 |
Aug 16.34 | 95.7 | 0.53 +/- 0.22 |
Assuming that the nova ejection took place on 2013 Aug 14.0 at 2300 km/s (ATel #
5282), and the ejecta have a temperature of 10^4 K, the 3 sigma upper limit at 95.7 GHz yields a lower limit on the distance, > 2 kpc (consistent with optical distance estimates; ATel #
5297).
We plan to follow the radio/millimeter evolution of this nova with additional multi-frequency observations.
