We report on our near-IR photometric monitoring observations of Nova Oph 2012 (PNV J17260708-2551454) from 2012 May to 2013 April. The observations were performed with the 3.8-m United Kingdom Infrared Telescope (UKIRT) and the UKIRT Wide Field Camera (WFCAM), using the near-IR filters Z, Y, J, H and K (effective wavelengths: 0.8717, 1.0305, 1.2483, 1.6313 and 2.2010 microns respectively).
Nova Oph 2012 was discovered on 2012 March 25.8 (CBET #3072). Further observations at radio, infrared, visual, UV and X-ray wavelengths were reported in AAN #457, ATel #4027, #4055 and #4087, and CBET #3081 and #3103. Spectroscopy at 0.8-2.4-micron wavelengths by Rudy et al. (2012; CBET #3081) showed that the this object is an "Fe II"-type nova.
The details of our observations, and the magnitudes derived (in the UKIRT photometric system), are given in the table below. The object is highly reddened; our observations show a slow decline of the near-IR magnitudes, when compared with those obtained in March-April, 2012 by Raj et al. (2012; ATel #4027). The decline is not smooth, and exhibits periods of re-brightening.
