We report two spectroscopic classifications using near-infrared spectra (range 800-2400 nm) obtained with the FoldedPort Infrared Echellette (FIRE) spectrograph on the 6.5-m Magellan Baade Telescope. Classifications were done comparing the near-infrared spectra to the library of Marion et al. 2009, A.J. 138, 727. All redshifts are from the presumed hosts and approximately match the supernova redshifts.
Name | Source | Host z | Type | Spec date | Best Match | Notes
PSN J13102131-0710241 | SNhunt178 | 0.022 | Ia | Apr 3.31 | SN2005am at -4d | 1
PSN J15425813-1823472 | SNhunt179 | 0.034 | IIb | Apr 3.35 | SN2011dh at 12d | 2
Note 1. SNhunt178 has strong Ca II triplet, O I and Mg II features, and is likely subluminous. It was reported as a 91bg-like SN Ia by ATel #
4940
Note 2. SNhunt179 shows H Paschen lines and He I lines.
