MASTER OT J042341.77+765237.0 - new bright CV
MASTER-Amur auto-detection system discovered OT source at (RA, Dec) = 04h 23m 41.77s +76d 52m 37.0s on 2013-02-25.59012 UT.
The OT unfiltered magnitude is 16.0m (limit 17.7m). The OT is seen in 4 images.
We have reference image without OT on 2012-08-15.73751 UT with unfiltered magnitude limit 19.2m.
Object was confirmed on MASTER-Kislovodsk image on 2013-02-26.847 UT (mag 16.0).
There is a faint star at this position on digitized Palomar plates. It is present in catalogs as
USNO-A2.0 1650-00821921 (04 23 41.61 +76 52 37.2 R=19.3 B=19.7) and USNO-B1.0 1668-0029954
(04 23 41.905 +76 52 37.43 pmRA=26 pmDE=-4 B1=20.66 R1=19.98 B2=20.34 R2=N/A I=18.27).
Color-combined (BRIR) image is uploaded to http://master.sai.msu.ru/static/OT/J042341+765237-BRIR5x5.jpg
The object has an UV counterpart GALEX J042341.9+765237 (NUV=22.05+/-0.32). There is nothing at this position in 1RXS, 2MASS, GCVS and AAVSO VSX. This area of sky is not covered by SDSS and CRTS. No previous outburst was detected on 3 Palomar/NEAT images obtained on 1998 Nov. 16.
Based on the amplitude of variability and UV detection by GALEX we suggest that MASTER OT J042341.77+765237.0 is a new cataclysmic variable (dwarf nova) in outburst. Follow up observations are required. The discovery and reference images are available at: http://master.sai.msu.ru/static/OT/042341.77765237.0.png
