We have observed a recent NIR brightening of the intermediate redshift, QSO PKS0507+17 (z=0.416), cross identified with the gamma ray source 1FGL0510.0+1800. On November 3rd, 2012 (JD 2456234.8991), we determined the flux in the H band to be 12.704 +/- 0.04. That is to be compared with a flux corresponding to H = 14.779 +/- 0.05 for epoch JD2455637.6988.That is an increment of about 2 magnitudes over this time period. Observations were carried out with the 2.1m telescope of the Guillermo Haro Observatory operated by the National Institute for Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (Mexico), equipped with the instrument CANICA a NIR camera. We encourage further multi wavelength coverage
