We have observed a recent NIR brightening of the high redshift, flat spectrum QSO OJ248 (z=0.940461), also known as FBQS J083052.0+241059. On October 25th, 2012 (JD 2456225.035903), we determined the flux in the H band to be 14.049 +/- 0.08. That is to be compared with a flux corresponding to H = 15.751 +/- 0.03 for epoch JD2455704.646088.That is an increment of 1.75 magnitudes over this time period. Observations were carried out with the 2.1m telescope of the Guillermo Haro Observatory operated by the National Institute for Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (Mexico), equipped with the instrument CANICA a NIR camera. We encourage further multi wavelength coverage
