We have observed a recent NIR brightening of the QSO HB890420-014 a high redshift source (z=0.0.916087)it is also the gamma ray source 1FGLJ0423.2-0118. On September 26th, 2012, epoch JD2456196.992766, we determined the flux in the H band to be 13.958 +/- 0.7. That is to be compared with the flux previously determined on epoch JD2455601.646655, when the H band flux corresponded to
H = 15.920 +/- 0.04. Observations were carried out with the 2.1m telescope of the Guillermo Haro Observatory operated by the National Institute for Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (Mexico), equipped with the instrument CANICA a NIR camera. We encourage further multi wavelength coverage.
