During the period 24-25 Aug. 2003 a set of INTEGRAL observations of the
Galactic Center was performed as a part of an Open Program.
The source SGR 1806-20 was permanently in the field of view of IBIS
telescope and revealed a burst activity. Several soft gamma ray bursts
with different duration (40-250 ms) and intensities were detected.
Two powerful bursts were localized.
The first of them occurred on 2003 August 24 at 17:50:19.7 UT at
coordinates R.A. = 18h08.5m, Dec.= -20d23.0m (equinox 2000, position
uncertainty 3').
The second one occurred on 2003 August 25 at 03:55:00.9 UT
at coordinates R.A. = 18h08.5m, Dec= -20d24.0m
(equinox 2000, position uncertainty 3').
Taking into account the uncertainties of their localization they can
be associated with SGR1806-20 and not with the newly discovered
SGR1808-20
(GCN 2351).
Both bursts with duration of about 250 ms were detected with
IBIS/ISGRI in the 18-50 keV range and had a complex structure.
We continue to monitor the source behavior.
