We report the discovery of a new transient source,
IGR J16479-4514, with the IBIS/ISGRI detector onboard
the INTEGRAL observatory. The source position is
RA=16h47.9m, and DEC= -45d 14' (equinox 2000, position
uncertainty around 3').
The source was detected during observations of the
Galactic Center field performed between August 8 and
August 9, with fluxes ~12 mCrab in the 18-25 keV band
(signal to noise ratio S/N ~9) and ~8 mCrab in
the 25-50 keV band (S/N ~10). During later observations
performed on August 10 the source temporarily increased
its activity. The source flux increased by a factor ~2:
detected fluxes are ~22 mCrab in the 18-25 keV energy
band (S/N~9), ~21 mCrab in the 25-50 keV band (S/N~15)
and ~17 mCrab in the 50-100 keV band (S/N~6).
