We report on the discovery of a probable cataclysmic variable (CV) during the course of the Lick Observatory Supernova Search with the 0.8-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT). The CV is in the field of UGC 11289, and is located at R.A. = 18h35m56s.29, Decl. = +22d26'39".7 (J2000).

Available KAIT photometry (all unfiltered, all dates are UT): Jul 17.35, >18.8; Jul 21.33, 16.6; Jul 22.32, 16.5; Jul 24.31, 16.8; Jul 25.32, 16.9.

We obtained a spectrum of this source (range 3300 - 10500 Angstroms) using the Kast spectrograph on the Lick 3-m telescope on July 26.35 UT. The continuum of the source is blue and mostly featureless except for a weak H-alpha emission feature centered at a radial velocity of about 200 km/s. The H-alpha line has an equivalent width of 6 Angstroms and a FWHM of 1400 km/s. We conclude that the variable star is likely to be a CV in our Galaxy.
