We report the detection of a hard X-ray outburst of the transient
X-ray pulsar GS1843+009 with the IBIS/ISGRI telescope aboard INTEGRAL.
The source was detected during the May 1-11 observing run at a S/N ratio
of ~20 in the 18-100 keV energy range. The preliminary measured fluxes
were about 15, 10 and 10 mCrab in the 18-25, 25-50 and 50-100 keV bands,
respectively. The source was below the detection limit during the INTEGRAL
observations of the field performed on March 10, 22, 30 and April 5, 12, 2003
(the 3-sigma upper limits were 7, 4 and 5 mCrab in the same energy bands,
respectively). This source outburst was much weaker than the two known
previous ones (1988, 1997). In particular the fluxes measured with
INTEGRAL are an order of magnitude lower than those measured with BeppoSAX
during the 1997 outburst (cf. Piraino et al. 2000, A&A, 357, 501).
