We report on SALT spectroscopic observations of Gaia22bpl (AT2022hsp, aka Bohdan Paczynski Lens) transient detected by the Gaia Science Alerts program (http://gsaweb.ast.cam.ac.uk/alerts) on 2022-04-14 with an alerting magnitude G=12.15. High-resolution (R~15000) SALT/HRS spectrum was obtained on 2022-04-24, under the SALT Large Programme on transients (2021-2-LSP-001, PI: D. Buckley). Based on synthetic spectra fitting we classified this target as a red giant of K1 III spectral type. Absorption lines analysis and no visible emissions confirm this is a microlensing event. The part of the spectrum (around Ca II triplet region) is available on IAU's Transient Name Server under this link: https://www.wis-tns.org/object/2022hsp.
