Credential Certification: U. Munari (ulisse.munari@oapd.inaf.it)
Subjects: Optical, Cataclysmic Variable, Nova
We have obtained photometry and spectroscopy of the transient AT 2022tqu
indicated in ATel #15607 as a possible new bright Galactic nova.
BVRI observations have been carried out with ANS Collaboration telescope
ID 0310 on Sept 11.134 UT, obtaining V=13.733, B-V=-0.026, V-R=+0.052, and R-I=+0.034.
An under-exposed Echelle spectrum has been recorded with the Varese 0.84m telescope
on Sept 11.162 UT, showing no emission line on a hot and smooth continuum.
The blue colors suggest no reddenin. The faint magnitude and the absence
of emission lines do not fit with the expectations for an unreddened classical nova. AT 2022tqu resembles
a cataclysmic variable in outburst.
