We report independent discovery of a nova candidate in M31 (designated as M31N 2022-07e) on 5x300 sec co-added R-band CCD images taken on 2022 July 26.9510 UT with the 50/70 Schmidt telescope at Rozhen NAO, Bulgaria. (Discovery image can be found here). We have confirmed an increase in brightness of the transient on 5x300 sec co-added R-band images taken on 2022 July 27.9767 UT with the same instrumentation. R-band magnitudes are summarized below:
2022 July 26.9510 UT    R=18.6±0.2 mag     5x300 sec
2022 July 27.9767 UT    R=17.6±0.1 mag     5x300 sec
The object was independently discovered on July 26.860 UT by Mi Zhang, Xing Gao, Xingming Observatory Sky Survey (XOSS) and designated as AT2022puk (= XM77MZ) (= PNV J00425697+4116333). The object is located at R.A.=0h42m56s.97, Decl.=+41o16'33".30 (equinox 2000.0), which is 142.6" east and 24.8" north of the center of M31.
Additional optical photometry is also available:
2022 July 26.9694 UT    B=18.8±0.1 mag    3x300 sec
2022 July 27.9918 UT    V=18.0±0.1 mag    3x300 sec
Spectral observations are recommended to classify the transient spectroscopically.
