We report the classification of SN 2021aaqn as a young SN II with flash ionization features using spectroscopic observations with the LRIS spectrograph on the Keck I telescope, made on 2021 Oct 7 UT. The transient was discovered by the Young Supernova Experiment (YSE; Jones et al, 2021) on 2021 Oct 06 UT. The classification spectrum was obtained 22.5 hours after discovery. The spectrum shows narrow emission lines from Balmer series, He II 4686 A, and C IV 5801 A. The FWHM of H alpha is 1500 km/s. The redshift is consistent with the host redshift of z = 0.028. We encourage follow-up observations of this young supernova. We thank the Keck observatory staff and the classically scheduled observers for accommodating our ToO request.
