MAXI/GSC detection of a new outburst from the Be X-ray pulsar Swift J1626.6-5156 after 15 years

At 01:00 UT on 2021 March 11, the MAXI/GSC nova alert system triggered on X-ray enhancement from a position consistent with that of the Be X-ray binary Swift J1626.6-5156. MAXI/GSC data (http://maxi.riken.jp/pubdata/v7l/J1626-519/index.html) show the average X-ray fluxes of the Swift J1626.6-5156 region from March 6 (MJD 59279) to March 9 (59282) are about 6, 20, and 80 mCrab in the 2-4 keV, 4-10 keV, and 10-20 keV bands, respectively. Note that about half the sky region to obtain the fluxes is masked to avoid count leaks from a nearby source. Therefore, we doubled the fluxes obtained from the above web site. We also note that the source is visible on GSC images since March 5.
If the source is Swift J1626.6-5156, this is a bright outburst after 15 years (Krimm et al. 2005, GCN Cir. 4361; Palmer et al. ATel. #678; also see Megan et al. 2013, ApJ, 762, 61). We also tentatively name the source MAXI J1625-516 until the source is identified.
Followup observations are encouraged.
