We report the classification of AT2020acxg from spectroscopic observations with the Kast spectrograph on the Lick Shane Telescope, made on 2020 Dec 16 UT. The target was supplied by YSE. The classification was performed with SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024).

Name | IAU Name | RA (J2000) | Dec (J2000) | z | Type | Phase | Notes
PS20mfd | AT2020acxg | 04:26:28.36 | -20:50:46.02 | 0.173 | Ia | -3d | (1)

Notes:
When the redshift is given to 2 decimal places, it is derived from the SN spectrum. Otherwise, the redshift is determined from the host galaxy. (1) We derive the redshift of the transient from narrow emission lines attributed to the host. At this redshift, the transient has an absolute g-band magnitude of -20. We find good matches with overluminous SNe Ia (91T-like and Super-Chandra events), a few days before peak. We measure a Si II velocity of -9,700 km/s.
