We report on the discovery of TeV gamma ray emission from the AGN 1ES0806+524 by the VERITAS array
located in southern Arizona. 1ES0806+524 is a high frequency peaked BL Lac at a redshift z=0.138.
The analysis of 46 hours of data results in a 5.8 sigma detection with an average flux
of ~1% of the Crab nebula above 400GeV. These data have been collected between 2006 and 2008.
We are continuing to observe this source this month. Multi-wavelength observations
across the electromagnetic spectrum are encouraged.
