We performed a preliminary analysis of the XRT data of SGR 1830-0645 taken on 2020 October 10 in PC mode for 0.66 ks. We find a coherent pulsation at a frequency of 0.0960(1) Hz, corresponding to a period of 10.4 s, well within the range of the magnetar spin periods. We find the RMS pulsed fraction in the 0.5-10 keV band as 0.29(5). We conclude that the burst reported by Page et al (GCN #28594, ATel #14083) is not a short GRB - most likely it is a magnetar burst. The combination of the soft, magnetar like burst and the spin period associated with the source confirms the nature of SGR 1830-0645 as a new magnetar. Further follow ups and analyses are underway.
