The Nordic Optical Telescope (NOT) Unbiased Transient Survey 2 (NUTS2; ATel #8992, http://nuts.sn.ie ) reports the spectroscopic classification of SN 2020scc (09:14:08.990, +40:04:41.20) in host galaxy NGC 2782. The candidate was discovered by Xingming Observatory Sky Survey (XOSS).
The observation was performed with the 2.56 m Nordic Optical Telescope
equipped with ALFOSC+gr4 (range 350-950 nm; resolution 1.8-1.9 nm).
Survey Name | IAU Name | Discovery (UT) | Discovery mag | Observation (UT) | Redshift | Type | Phase | Notes
XM01QY | SN 2020scc | 2020-08-20.9 | 13.7 | 2020-09-09.23 | 0.008503 | Ia | ~20d | (1)
(1) We find good matches to a range of normal Type Ia SNe at 2-3 weeks after maximum light. The SN has a redshift consistent with NGC 2782, but is separated by 2.2 arcmin on the sky, corresponding to a physical separation of at least 25 kpc. Our classification is in agreement with that previously reported to the TNS by Claudio Balcon (Italian Supernova Search Project).
Classification was performed using GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A, 488, 383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) tools. Calibrated spectra and additional information can be retrieved in the IAU Transient Name Server.
