The DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) has detected variable GeV gamma-ray emission from the blazar PKS 0903-57 (J2000 coordinate R.A. = 136.22 deg, Dec. = -57.58 deg; Fey et al. 2004, AJ, 128, 2593).

The DAMPE has recorded a significant increase in the number of photons positionally consistent with the source on March 31, 2020 UT, and the daily averaged gamma-ray flux reached ~(5.9+/-2.3) x10^-7 photons cm^-2 s^-1 above 2 GeV. The number of photons detected in the next few days decreased and increased again on April 12, 2020. Our analysis shows a peak daily flux of ~(6.8+/-2.5) x10^-7 photons cm^-2 s^-1 above 2 GeV, recorded on April 12, 2020 UT. The daily light curve shows significant variabilities. Enhanced activities of PKS 0903-57 was also reported at the gamma-ray bands by Fermi-LAT(ATel#13604).

DAMPE is a space-borne calorimeter detector of high energy cosmic rays and gamma-rays. The detectable energy range is ~2 GeV to 10 TeV for gamma-rays. More information about DAMPE can be found at http://www.space.pmo.cas.cn/.
