At 23:45:29 UTC on 2020-03-18, BAT detected a burst from the source XTE J1701-407, which has recently been reported as in outburst (ATel #13564, Onori et al.). The burst is roughly 40 seconds long and reaches a peak of ~400 counts/s (15-50 keV).
An additional burst from this source was detected at 14:12:34 on 2020-03-20.
These follow an earlier burst detected by BAT on January 27 of comparable intensity and time structure. BAT has now detected 21 bursts from this source back to 2008. The source also shows up in the BAT survey as a variable source, ranging from 0 to 15 mCrab.
