We report the spectroscopic classification of SN 2019pfb, discovered by the Zwicky Transient Facility (Kulkarni 2018; ATel #11266)
The observation was performed with Low Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (LRIS) mounted on the 10-m Keck I telescope (range 3200-10200 nm; resolution 0.7 nm).
Survey Name | IAU Name | Discovery MJD | Discovery mag | z | Type | Phase | Notes
ZTF19abvdgqo | SN 2019pfb | 58727.32 | 19.06 | 0.03683 | Ib | 1 week before max | (1)
(1) The spectrum is consistent with that of a Type Ib SN. We find the best match to be with SN 2004gq one week before maximum light. The expansion velocity deduced from the He I 587.6 nm absorption is about 14000 km/s.
The classification was done with GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A, 488,
383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024).
