We report the spectroscopic classification of AT2019gvn (a.k.a. BraTS-SON-T2-006), discovered by the Brazilian Transient Search (BraTS) team (TNS Astronomical Transient Report No. 36916).
The observations were performed with the Asiago 1.22 m Galileo Galilei Telescope equipped with the B&C spectrograph (range 330-790 nm; resolution 0.6 nm).
IAU Name | Survey Name | Discovery date (UT) | Discovery mag | Observation (UT) | Type | z | Notes |
AT2019gvn | BraTS-SON-T2-006 | 2019-06-02.24 | 14.0 (Clear) | 2019-06-09.08 | stellar | 0 | (1) |
(1) The low signal-to-noise spectrum shows a blue continuum with absorption lines of the Balmer series at redshift 0. This suggests the transient being a Galactic stellar source, most likely a cataclismic variable.
Classification were done with GELATO (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A&A, 488, 383) and SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024).
