We report new photometric observation of the Type Ia SN 2019np
(R.A = 10:29:21.960, Dec= +29:30:38.40) taken on 2019-01-10.41 UT. The object was discovered by Koichi Itagaki on 2019-01-09.66 UT, and it was quickly classified as a SN Ia at very early phase by Wu et al. (ATel #12374) and Kilpatrick and Foley (ATel #12375).
Our data were taken with the 0.6/0.9m Schmidt telescope at Konkoly Observatory, Piszkesteto, Hungary. PSF-photometry on the supernova was computed and calibrated via 6 local comparison stars downloaded from the Pan-STARRS catalog.
The following magnitudes have been obtained for the SN:
B = 16.842 +/- 0.024
V = 16.683 +/- 0.014
R = 16.659 +/- 0.013
I = 16.552 +/- 0.018
The spectroscopic observations indicate that SN 2019np is at ~2 weeks before maximum light. Its brightness was measured by the Zwicky Transient Facility as r ~ 18.0 mag (after converting to the Johnson-Cousins system) on 2019-01-09 10:44:36 UT.
Our new photometry shows that the SN is rising rapidly, consistent with the spectroscopic age estimate. Follow-up observations are continued at Konkoly Observatory.
