Poonam Chandra (Stockholm University and NCRA-TIFR), Claes
Fransson (Stockholm University) ?and Roger A. Chevalier (University of Virginia) report:
We observed the nearby Type IIn supernova SN 2017hcc (Mauerhan
et al. ATel# 10911) with the Swift-XRT during 2017 Nov 3- Nov 5.
Combining this with the previous observations on 2017 Oct 28 and Oct 30, we
have a total exposure of 13.5 ks. We do not detect any X-ray emission
from the SN position. The 3-sigma upper limit on the photon count is
1.02E-3 counts/s. Assuming a 20 keV thermal plasma and a Galactic HI
column density of 3E20 cm^{-2} in this direction, this corresponds to
an unabsorbed flux (0.3-10 keV) of 4.9E-14 erg/s/cm^2
or an unabsorbed luminosity (for d=75.5 Mpc) of 3.3E40 erg/s.?
