The Nearby Supernova Factory reports the discovery of supernova SNF20070406-008 (coordinates RA 13:19:20.19 DEC +08:55:44.33 J2000.0) in in an anonymous galaxy from images obtained April 6.5 UT at an approximate magnitude of 18.3 (calibrated to R) using the QUEST II camera on the Palomar Oschin 48-inch telescope as a part of the JPL Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking component of the Palomar-QUEST Consortium. A spectrum (range 320-1000 nm) of this object, obtained April 8.6 UT with the Supernova Integral Field Spectrograph on the University of Hawaii 2.2-meter telescope under poor conditions, reveals that it is most likely a Type Ic supernova at an approximate redshift of 0.1.
