We obtained a spectrum of AT 2017czd, discovered by Koichi Itagaki, on 2017 April 13.5 UT with the robotic FLOYDS instrument mounted on the Las Cumbres Observatory 2-meter telescope on Haleakala, Hawai'i. The spectrum shows a blue continuum with narrow galaxy emission lines at the redshift of the proposed host (z=0.008; SDSS DR3, via NED). We therefore classify the transient as a young Type II supernova. The spectrum is available on the Transient Name Server.
